Question #1:
Are you falling for the Republican distortions of Americas problems?
They need to "cut taxes for the rich" because they create all the jobs. When clearly "demand" creates jobs. They need to de-criminalize (de-regulate) many business activities to get things going again. When every single government regulation is in place to stop business excesses which were not illegal but were against American citizens. Like credit card charges, health insurance cancellations and fees, toxic waste on and on.
It seems like they are short on facts and long on "fiery rhetoric" and inflammatory name-calling"
@Timothy P
Check out Pacificare Health Insurance TODAY, over one million violations since 2005 the government is asking for a $10B fine to curb the ILLEGAL activites. How many people died while they lied?
Question #2:
Have you benefited directly from Obama and the Dems?
I have -- bought a house. Got an $8000 credit. Was unemployed, got 75% off COBRA. I only wish I had gotten my act together for Cash for Clunkers. Started a small business -- waiting to see how that affects next year's taxes, but it has been profitable.I'm a big naysayer and 3rd party guy and not a Dem, BTW. I voted for Nader. Just saying, this administration did help SOME people. Those who weren't stupid and bought during the housing boom with no-money-down balloon mortgages are suffering. I waited and was rewarded.

Question #4:
Is Obama suddenly all for tax breaks for businesses to stem Dem losses in Nov. or to get the hidden 50 billion?
Click HereI say it's a little of both. Talk about "transparent!"
And why are Democrats who have been defending the expiration of the Bush tax credits suddenly all for the lowering of taxes?
Question #5:
This promises to be the worst labor day...?
THIS promises to be the worst Labor Day in the memory of most Americans. Organized labor is down to about 7 percent of the private work force. Members of non-organized labor — most of the rest of us — are unemployed, underemployed or underwater. The Labor Department reported on Friday that just 67,000 new private-sector jobs were created in August, while at least 125,000 are needed to keep up with the growth of the potential work force. The national economy isn’t escaping the gravitational pull of the Great Recession. None of the standard booster rockets are working: near-zero short-term interest rates from the Fed, almost record-low borrowing costs in the bond market, a giant stimulus package and tax credits for small businesses that hire the long-term unemployed have all failed to do enough.
That’s because the real problem has to do with the structure of the economy, not the business cycle. No booster rocket can work unless consumers are able, at some point, to keep the economy moving on their own. But consumers no longer have the purchasing power to buy the goods and services they produce as workers; for some time now, their means haven’t kept up with what the growing economy could and should have been able to provide them.
This crisis began decades ago when a new wave of technology — things like satellite communications, container ships, computers and eventually the Internet — made it cheaper for American employers to use low-wage labor abroad or labor-replacing software here at home than to continue paying the typical worker a middle-class wage. Even though the American economy kept growing, hourly wages flattened. The median male worker earns less today, adjusted for inflation, than he did 30 years ago.
But for years American families kept spending as if their incomes were keeping pace with overall economic growth. And their spending fueled continued growth. How did families manage this trick? First, women streamed into the paid work force. By the late 1990s, more than 60 percent of mothers with young children worked outside the home (in 1966, only 24 percent did).
Second, everyone put in more hours. What families didn’t receive in wage increases they made up for in work increases. By the mid-2000s, the typical male worker was putting in roughly 100 hours more each year than two decades before, and the typical female worker about 200 hours more.
When American families couldn’t squeeze any more income out of these two coping mechanisms, they embarked on a third: going ever deeper into debt. This seemed painless — as long as home prices were soaring. From 2002 to 2007, American households extracted $2.3 trillion from their homes.
Eventually, of course, the debt bubble burst — and with it, the last coping mechanism. Now we’re left to deal with the underlying problem that we’ve avoided for decades. Even if nearly everyone was employed, the vast middle class still wouldn’t have enough money to buy what the economy is capable of producing.
Where have all the economic gains gone? Mostly to the top. The economists Emmanuel Saez and Thomas Piketty examined tax returns from 1913 to 2008. They discovered an interesting pattern. In the late 1970s, the richest 1 percent of American families took in about 9 percent of the nation’s total income; by 2007, the top 1 percent took in 23.5 percent of total income.
It’s no coincidence that the last time income was this concentrated was in 1928. I do not mean to suggest that such astonishing consolidations of income at the top directly cause sharp economic declines. The connection is more subtle.
The rich spend a much smaller proportion of their incomes than the rest of us. So when they get a disproportionate share of total income, the economy is robbed of the demand it needs to keep growing and creating jobs.
What’s more, the rich don’t necessarily invest their earnings and savings in the American economy; they send them anywhere around the globe where they’ll summon the highest returns — sometimes that’s here, but often it’s the Cayman Islands, China or elsewhere. The rich also put their money into assets most likely to attract other big investors (commodities, stocks, dot-coms or real estate), which can become wildly inflated as a result.

Question #6:
Can anyone refer me to a legit cigarette/tobacco wholesaler so I can buy cartons for less?
I live in NYC and a pack of cigs is going for $11 average right now. I'm not a big smoker..but I have a business and throw parties...my clients and I have a social smoke, so I'm looking to save some money. I have seen cartons go for $30-35 ..which includes taxes/shipping..but I'm worried that the website is not legit and afraid to use my credit card..so I just wanted to ask.Question #7:
Is this whole "economic crisis" thing being made up by the media? I'm doing fine; aren't you?
I live here near Houston, and the economy looks fine to me. I've been making more money since 2007 than ever before in my life, working as a lawyer/consultant in the energy sector.Where, exactly, can I see this "economic crisis?" On a day to day basis, I see a regular, healthy economy churning along. I see freeways still packed with SUVs and trucks towing boats/ATVs. I just had an extension installed on my garage, and the contractor seems to have plenty of business.
Think about the gap between your own life and what the media claims is happening:
-Do you, personally, know anyone with a house in foreclosure? No; you don't.
-Do you, personally, know people who are unemployed? Nope. You do not.
-Do you, personally, know anybody facing "financial ruin" because of healthcare/education/credit card debt costs? Again - no, you probably don't.
See what I mean? Why is the media lying about the economy? Just to sell newspapers and get viewers?
Question #8:
Why do people think our economy should have recovered from one of the worse recessions in history in a year?
"The recession, which began in December 2007, has ended but the nation still faces a long slow recovery, according to economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics.More than 80% of respondents to the quarterly NABE survey said they believe an expansion has begun. The survey was released Monday at the Association’s annual meeting here in St. Louis.“The good news is that this deep and long recession appears to be over, and with improving credit markets, the U.S. economy can return to solid growth next year without worry about rising inflation,” according to Lynn Reaser, chief economist at Point Loma Nazarene University and NABE President-elect.
Even with the recovery, the NABE panel forecast the unemployment rate to increase to 10% in the first quarter of 2010 from the current 9.8% and to edge down to 9.5% by the end of the year." Fox New Business October 12, 2009

Question #10:
What should I do to pursue being a Naval Aviator?
I am currently an enlisted MM Navy Nuke in "A" School. I have a college background with 139 college credits and a 3.32 GPA. I was working on getting a dual-major in Engineering Physics and Business, but I still have three years of college left to do. My GPA is lower than it should be because I flunked many classes in my freshman year when I was pursuing a music degree. I'm not sure if I can get a waiver for those classes. Also, I still need to get my eyes fixed with eye laser surgery, which I hope to get eventually. I am just looking for some outside opinions on what would be the best route to go. Would going Nuke Officer be a more likely route to take? However, I would prefer being a pilot above all else because I want to get a chance to fly fighter jets. I am also considering putting in a package for the Naval Academy, but I'm not sure if it would be worth putting in or not?Question #11:
Is it realistic to think this country sould have recoved from this past recession in less than a year?
It was one of the worse reseccision in our history."The recession, which began in December 2007, has ended but the nation still faces a long slow recovery, according to economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics.More than 80% of respondents to the quarterly NABE survey said they believe an expansion has begun. Question #12:
Is the lust for power so strong that the GOP would Obstruct the small buiness bill?
Senate Republicans, are responsible for a "needless delay" in the passage of legislation designed to increase bank loans to small businesses. Specifically, the measure would set up a $30 billion lending fund to help community banks offer small businesses credit. It also would provide tax breaks to small businesses that invest in new equipment and hire unemployed workers.Click Here
Question #13:
Do the many people wanting fame and fortune mess up the entertainment business?
So entertainment is very, extremely crowded, as I know, the main reason is for fame and fortune. Also with the biz being so crowded, Hollywood doesn't have enough money to invest into everyone in the business, therefore many people are left without money to back up their projects. So they all go the low budget way. Trying to make some project for little money hoping it will make millions in the end. Like The Blair Witch Project, a $60,000 movie that made $248 million in the box office. Now this sounds exciting to many, take little money and make big money in the end.
Who needs Hollywood to back us up, we can do it ourselves. It sounds easy, but to do a movie like The Blair Witch Project took 3 years to do regardless of it's cost and thinking it's easier. Honestly, everything entertainment is -which many people laugh at with disbelief- all multi managing of technical things, so it's really not easy at all.
So now what we have is a vast large amount of people doing low budget projects and in most cases it doesn't pay the staff anything as well, since it's low budget. Don't forget Hollywood doesn't have enough money for everyone out there, so low budget is the way to go as entertainers are hoping they will make millions in the end to now pay their staff. But does that ever happen? No, because once again the biz is filled with fame and fortune minded people trying to be technical, so they fail and the project never goes anywhere and you never get paid or at least the credit that you worked on a successful project, which could turn the eye of some Hollywood executive to want to now pay you well.
So in a nut shell, fame and fortune minded people are causing the entertainment business to be overly crowded, which turns into a huge low budget money issue and does the project you worked on a least go anywhere? Of course not, it's mostly lead by fame and fortune minded people trying to do technical things. What do you think?
Question #14:
Why are the most fortunate in this country not willing to do anything to save the country that has afforded?
them such a lavish lifestyle ?We give them tax breaks for a decade and they thank us by sending jobs over seas to avoid paying us a decent wage. They move their corporations and bank accounts to The Caymans and Dubai to avoid paying taxes to help support the country the pretend to love. They gamble away 17 trillion dollars of our 401K retirement ,we bail them out and they thank us by freezing credit. They expect the less fortunate, middle class, veterans, small businesses... to pay for them to live a ever expanding lifestyle in this great nation even though they benefit most. They want us to allow them to pollute and destroy what we all share with no recourse to them in the name of their profits. What have they done for U.S. lately and how much money do they really need, all of it?Corporations pay little or 0 taxes
@ chint Banks decide who gets to borrow and what the value of a property is . They also decided to give people lons that they couldn't afford and bundle and sell them to make huge profits and end up in some poor unsuspecting middle class dudes 401K as worthless junk. Let's give credit where credit is due.
Keep in mind that the capitol gaine stax is at 15%.
Taxes are at a 50 yr low

Question #16:
Only 120 days to go until the largest tax hike in History. What should we do?
First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax ReliefIn 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:
Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:
- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
- The 28% bracket rises to 31%
- The 33% bracket rises to 36%
- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%
Higher taxes on marriage and family. The “marriage penalty” (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. The dependent care tax credit will be cut.
The return of the Death Tax. This year, there is no death tax. For those dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a retirement account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones.
Higher tax rates on savers and investors. The top capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The top dividends tax rate will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011. These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.
Second Wave: Obamacare
There are over twenty new or higher taxes in Obamacare. Several will first go into effect on January 1, 2011. They include:
The Tanning Tax. This went into effect on July 1st of this year. It imposes a new, 10% excise tax on getting a tan at a tanning salon. There is no exemption for tanners making less than $250,000 per year.
The “Medicine Cabinet Tax” Thanks to Obamacare, Americans will no longer be able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription, over-the-counter medicines (except insulin).
The HSA Withdrawal Tax Hike. This provision of Obamacare increases the additional tax on non-medical early withdrawals from an HSA from 10 to 20 percent, disadvantaging them relative to IRAs and other tax-advantaged accounts, which remain at 10 percent.
Brand Name Drug Tax. Starting next year, there will be a multi-billion dollar tax assessment imposed on name-brand drug manufacturers. This tax, like all excise taxes, will raise the price of medicine, hurting everyone.
Economic Substance Doctrine. The IRS is now empowered to disallow perfectly-legal tax deductions and maneuvers merely because it judges that the deduction or action lacks “economic substance.” This is obviously an arbitrary empowerment of IRS agents.
Employer Reporting of Health Insurance Costs on a W-2. This will start for W-2s in the 2011 tax year. While not a tax increase in itself, it makes it very easy for Congress to tax employer-provided healthcare benefits later.

Question #17:
Should I take this guy to small claims?
My wife and I won a cruise package at a wedding expo a year and a half ago. The travel agent agreed to give us 850 dollars toward a cruise if we booked it through him. When we started looking into it, we found his cruises were mostly overpriced and we could get a better cruise via Priceline for much less. We asked him what to do and he told us to go ahead and book it through them and he would give us a cashier's check for 750, which was the credit he offered us minus his comission. We said great! And booked it.The total cost was over 1500 dollars. We paid about half up front, and the rest was due in August. As the date approached, we began contacting him by phone, email, and Facebook. We got only response from him saying he just purchased a store and was broke, but he would get us our money ASAP.
And that's the last we heard from him. Now he ignores our calls, messages, emails, and he so far has ignored the Better Business Bureau's inquiries. We managed to pay the remaining balance of our cruise from our savings, but we really needed that to cover our bills while we're out of town.
This cruise is meant to be a late honeymoon for my wife and I, and it's going to be hard to enjoy it knowing that we can't really afford it.
So should I take this guy to court? Do you think I have a case? We don't have any signed agreement or contract, but we have a complete record of our emails, including him saying we should "jump on" the Priceline deal and he would pay us the 750. We've been civil with him, and he has no excuses. Should we pursue? What's the procedure? Do you think we could get that money?

Question #19:
creditor keeps reporting me to collection agency for non-payment even after i filed bankruptcy. Is it allowed?
I had the bad luck of doing business with a very vicious, ruthless, and crooked creditor. He used every single tactic he could to get money out of me, but i kept resisting him. He placed over 67 calls a day using an automated voice. He then bombarded my email with demands to pay. he totally flooded my inbox with like 40,000 mails demanding payment. I told him i have bankruptcy lawyer and he responded using abuses, "no you don't, you bus turd" My bankruptcy lawyer contacted this creditor asking him to stop placing calls. Then this creditor sued me in court, KNOWING i have a bankruptcy lawyer. I physically had to go to court just to tell i have lawyer. His objective was to stress me out, by making me go to court because he knew it bankruptcy filing will discharge the debt. Then he again sued me in court of appeals, saying, "proof of bankruptcy still not shown". Second time my bankruptcy lawyer contacted court and his suit was thrown out. Then i filed chapter 7 bankruptcy. However, even after filing chapter 7 this vicious creditor keeps reporting to collection agency that i'm seriously delinquent. I checked my credit report and all other creditors whose debt was discharged no more contact the credit bureau. But this creditor alone keeps doing it out of pure vengeance.Question #20:
